Our project will organize a workshop on Online Data Collection on 9 & 10 January 2012 in Lisboa.

The program of these two days will be:

Day 2: Introduction to ScriptingRT, our new open source Adobe Flash/Flex-based reaction time software for online data collection

How to participate

The maximum number of participants is 25. Participants from outside of Lisboa can get reimbursed for

  • travel expenses to Lisboa by public transport (within Portugal)

Our funds for reimbursing travel and accommodation for participants from outside of Lisboa are limited; funding will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis. The workshop takes place at ISCTE, about 400 m from Metro stop Entrecampos. See this map:

At ISCTE, the workshop room will be B102.

(Note that there is a small chance that it will instead be in room C103, just a few meters away. This is because B102 is a “special” room for teleconferencing that sometimes is booked by higher powers at short notice.)

To find B102, go to “Edifício II” (“Building II”) (coming either from Metro Entrecampos or from Hotel Vila Rica). Enter Building II and then go down one level either using stairs or elevator. You basically enter Building II at the 2nd floor, and then go down to the first floor at B1.02

Please note that we can not provide refreshments or food during the workshop, as our grant does not pay for it. However, there is a cafeteria very close to the conference room that offers everything.

Monday night we invite you to join us for a dinner. Again, unfortunately our grant does not allow us to pay food, but we hope you can join us anyway! We will select a nice spot. Please email us until Friday whether you want to join, we will then make reservations.

See ISCTE’s homepage for maps.

Participants from outside Lisbon

we made reservations for you in the Villa Rica Hotel in Lisboa. Please find your reservation numbers below at the end of this mail.

About the hotel: the website is

This hotel has no wireless internet, but it does have free internet access via ethernet (i.e., LAN) in each room. However, you have to bring your own ethernet cable (or you can buy one for 4 €).

This hotel is about 400 m from the conference venue, our university ISCTE, and 200 m from the Metro stop “Entrecampos”, and 100 m from a busy taxi stand where you can always get a cab. See these and more locations on this map:

more information on program and venue will be sent in another email to all participants.

How to get from the airport to the hotel and back:

  • You can take a taxi. Just get in line outside of the airport, wait for your taxi, and tell the driver name and address of the hotel (Hotel Villa Rica, Avenida 5 de Outubro – 5 is “cinco” in Portuguese, pronounced something like “sencoo”). They will put on the meter, and it will cost between 10 and 15 €. If it costs more, protest and get help from the hotel staff, but it almost never happens. It will take about 15 mins. There is always a base fee, and you will pay a small surcharge for putting luggage into the trunk. You can ask for a receipt (ask for “fatura”); bring it to us, we might be able to reimburse it.
  • AeroBus: a special busline from the airport to the city. It starts in front of the Airport, you pay about 4 € to the driver, and get off at Entrecampos (first or second stop, depending on whether you catch the AeroBus or AeroShuttle, ).
  • Take the regular bus: In front of the aiport, there is a bus station for regular buses as well. Take Bus 91 (Cais Sodré) or Bus 96 (Direction: M. Pombal –  Rua Ramalho). Also, buses 44 and 745 should go to Entrecampos. You have to pay 1.75 € to the driver in cash, preferably with fitting coins. Get off at Entrecampos: The bus will stop either before or after a square with a big roundabout and a large white monument. From there, you have to walk 100 ms to the hotel (see map). If you have a lot of luggage, they might protest and send you to the AeroBus.

There is an ATM in the airport if you need Euros.

will the software be available for download soon and did you think about recording three sessions of your workshop or will there be a extensive documentation.
I am a Neuro psychiatrist working with flash and flex and I am currently developing a nback -task at so naturally your project sounds very interesting.
